Set up in early 2003, we aim to work closely with Transport Providers, Rail Passenger Groups and the Department for Transport to improve the service provided to passengers who have been issued with either a penalty fare or unpaid fare notice.

We are not owned by any of the Transport Providers or funded by the Department for Transport, but provide a completely independent service to ensure that people are dealt with in a fair and consistent manner.

By the use of web based technology we promise to simplify and speed up the process by which passengers can appeal the issue of a notice, while at the same time make it easier for outstanding fares to be paid with the minimum of fuss.

We work closely with Transport Providers to ensure maximum revenue protection whilst also providing a safety net to protect genuine customers.

Our IAS Code of Practice which has been approved by the Department for Transport sets out the standard of service together with the process and criteria that IAS uses when handling penalty fare appeals.

For more information, download a copy of our IAS Approved Code of Practice for Appeals.

Independent Revenue Collection and Support (IRCAS) and Independent Appeals Service (IAS) are trading names of Independent Transport Associates Limited (registered England & Wales Number: 04784571).
